I am flying into Panama on Oct 26th. How do I get to Santiago from the airport?

The easiest way is to get a cab ride from the airport to the Bus Terminal at Albrook, and from there you can get a bus ticket to go to Santiago.

If you arrive sometime in the morning or in the afternoon it's OK to do it right away. However if you arrive to Panama late at night it's possible you'll have to wait until 6 in the morning to get the bus ticket.

The bus line to Santiago is Expreso Veraguense.

Just a small tip - in emerging countries (such as Panama), it always makes sense to ask about a bus before taking a taxi. Buses are normally not advertised (to protect jobs for taxi drivers?) but locals know them and are much cheaper. According to Let's Go Central America 2003 (ISBN 0-312-30568-0), a taxi from airport to center is about $15 while a bus about $0.20 / 0.30 a ride (both prices are probably higher by now). Panama is reasonably safe (except perhaps the city of Colón any time and other places at night), so taking a bus should not be an issue. To go to Santiago, take a bus from Gran Terminal. Trip takes about 3.5 hours, wear warm clothing as the long-distance buses are heavily air-conditioned.

I suggest you take a taxi to the "Gran Terminal" (bus station) in the former Albrook AFB. From there you can take one of the more comfortable busses to Santiago. Good luck !
