It's really not that difficult. Here I go. But first, one thing to remember. The main character does not die in this movie.
Its a about a boy who discovers he suffers from black-outs during his entire life. By the time he reaches an adult age, he is put in a hospital because he can not control these blackouts. Or so its seems.
By accident he notices that he has the power to go back in time (reading his diary), and go to those periods where he had those blackouts from his childhood.
Every blackout and therefore return to the past makes a change in the future. Although he changes his future, he has to go back several times keep fixing what went wrong in the past.
An example, the suicide of his "girlfriend" which was triggered by the abuse of the girls father. He went back in time to tell the father off so the girl would be safe. And when he returns he sees that the girl is indeed safe, but because the father didn't have the chance to abuse his daughter, he went to the son instead, which leads to a messed up brother for the girl in the future. He goes back again....
He does this a lot of times to make sure everything turns out OK. And in the end, the only way to make his life and that of his friends livable, is to make sure they are never friends in the past.
I hope this helps you understand what the plot and the story are about. And don't worry, you are not supposed to understand all of it... Leave a little mystery :)

The butterfly effect is a phrase.
It was first described in the literature by Jacques Hadamard in 1890. Then popularised by Pierre Duhem's 1906 book.
In 1952 Ray Bradbury wrote a short story about time travel, he used this theory that one butterfly could have a far-reaching ripple effect on subsequent events.
The phrase refers to the idea that a butterfly's wings might create tiny changes in the atmosphere that ultimately cause a tornado to appear (or, for that matter, prevent a tornado from appearing). The flapping wing represents a small change in the initial condition of the system, which causes a chain of events leading to large-scale phenomena. Had the butterfly not flapped its wings, the trajectory of the system might have been vastly different.
I also remember seeing the first movie about the The Butterfly Effect. So when they made the movie they literally used the theory of a butterfly changing events.

Oh man. I'm so glad i saw your question. I love that movie! I own the DVD and saw it in theaters 3 different times when it was released! Here's what i think...
Ashton Kutcher does a fantastic job in this, his first dramatic screen role. His only flaw is that everyone is so used to seeing him doing over the top comedy that some scenes of extreme drama had the audience laughing out loud. But I applaud him for attempting drama, it suits him well. As for the rest of the cast, both the adult versions and the child versions of them, excellent performances.
It's about a guy (Ashton Kutcher) who can travel back into time to change the disturbing memories of his past. But, everytime he changes something... he comes back into a new lifestyle (and with a bloodynose.) so he keeps changing stuff trying to satisfy himself and realizes, at the end, that he doesn't need to change his past. so he erases the memory of ever meeting his girl and that makes everything better.
i have to say... i can see how the movie would be confusing. hope i helped explain it!

The protagonist there, Ashton Kutcher is a guy that has powers to change what happened in the past, so when something went wrong in his life, he would go back to change these things. Like when his girlfriend committed suicide, he went back to the time where the girl's father was taping them naked, and told him that his acts would cause the girl to commit suicide.
I think Ashton's father there had the same powers but didn't use them.
In the end he saw the girl again but didn't go after her. This is one of my favorite movies!

such as you pronounced, maximum persons could substitute something interior the previous if shall we. yet- what if the subject you replaced befell to set in action a clean sequence of activities, coming up new issues? that's the full premise of the action picture- he tried to alter the previous so as that all people could be ok and happy, yet continually made a variety of of of the folk he enjoyed depressing by way of his movements. He found out that there merely grew to become into no thank you to make each thing artwork out- i do no longer think of Evan grew to become into nutty, i think of the delusion variety is meant to be taken actually, he extremely does adventure those finished activities. The action picture, i think of, meant to assert that we can by no skill know the finished results of our small options. The analogy grew to become into made that a butterfly's wings might set a foul wind in action 0.5 way worldwide extensive-- i know, kinda a downer...

I really liked the movie because it was about a person who had the opportunity to go back in time and correct something that went wrong. Unfortunately each time he corrected something in his past it would create ramifications in the future.

If you pay attention to that physic lady tells him "You were never meant to be" in other words he was never supposed to be born! Every time he recreated his life through the notebooks he screwed up someone Else's life because he wasn't supposed to be born! So in the end he kills himself to make everyone Else's lives right! I think its a really cool movie!

It basically boils down to the fact that if you change even one second in time that nothing would be the same.
