the NBA coaches always wear tuxedos and suits. the MLB coaches always wear exactly what the players wear on the field, just like they are in the game. and NFL coaches just wear whatever, anything casual with the their team logo on it. why do they do this? is this somekind of rule or routine for their league?

Each league has their own dress code for managers/coaches. The NBA has tried to keep more of a classy appearance and makes them wear suits just as they make players wears suits in any NBA sanctioned appearance. The NFL is run by sponsors and the coaches are always given certain items to choose from for the sidelines. MLB managers have always been there wearing the uniform so it a tradition that became a rule.

I always thought that baseball managers dressed like the players because that's the only sport where you can do that. A baseball uniform is basically a long-sleeved shirt and long pants, so the manager can wear it too and not look stupid. A basketball uniform is shorts and a jersey; an old guy like Larry Brown would look ridiculous wearing that. And hockey and football uniforms consist of so much gear and protection, so it would make no sense that the coaches/managers would wear that as well; the coach has no need for facemasks or helmets or anything like that. So baseball is really the only sport where it's practical for the manager to be wearing what the players are wearing.

NBA is indoors and the coaches dont really do much so they need to look important al least (and yell alot), MLB they are usually so old that they are incapable of dressing themselves, and in the NFL most coaches are overwieght and therefore must wear a big pullover/jacket/what ever they can fit into.

How would a football coach look like in pads? How would Don Nelson look in shorts? I don't mean to be critical but where do you people get some of your ideas for questions. I see that crystal meths is at epidemic proportions.

Tradition has a lot to do with it. Baseball managers have always worn jerseys like their players, so why would they change now? The same is true for basketball and baseball.
