I first buy good soil if I am planting in soil. Then I place the seeds about one and a half inch down and water at least every day until I see the plants then I water about every one to three days depending on the kind of plant. See growing instructions for your area.

Did you plant the seeds in soil in the pots? All you should have to do after that is water. Maybe you planted the seed a little too deep. Most seeds just need a fine layer of soil or peat moss spread over top. I find that it is just as easy to buy the actual plants as it is to mess with the planting thing. A little more expensive, but better results.

When you plant the seeds, keep them warm, water them gently but don't over water.....keep soil damp. Put some miracle grow to boost them.

When they begin to grow and are a couple of inches tall, you will need to thin them out.

Lift one at a time taking care with the roots and replant in another pot. Continue with the others. You'll be able to put a few into one pot. Feed them again and protect them from harsh weather.

They'll come on really well.

All you need is some good potting soil and water. You might of
planted the seeds too deep, or they were bad. Try it again
and remember to get good potting soil, a pot with holes in the
bottom for drainage, and read the directions for how deep to put
your seeds. Happy Planting.

You could have planted them too deep. Read the packets for the correct depth, Do not fertilize them until they are approximately 4 inches high. And then only lightly. Water new seeds lightly, let the soil on top get dry, but still moist under 1/2 inch deep before watering again. This stuff always worked for me.

Dirt in pot, seeds in dirt, lightly water, pot in zip lock type clear plastic bag, all on south facing window sill. Relax, wait, watch.
