They were luckier in as far as they had ample time and opportunities to enjoy nature. Their needs were small and they were happier with what they had. Now we are all in a rat race with no time for family or friends. People work for 10/12 hrs. a day with no time to enjoy what little nature is left around them. People are tucked away on the 18th floor and thet can olny see a sliver of the sky, if they have the time and are not exhausted from work. Yes today we have automobiles, the Internet etc. that is where we spend our free time. Rushing from one deadline to another.

I think we should consider ourselves to be luckier than our forefathers as the quality of life today is far more than they cud have ever imagined. today we can travel from one end of the globe to the other in a couple of hours, thanks to the supersonic jet engines. Even on land transport is far more faster and comfortable due to various modes of transportation like cars scooters etc.. In the political field our forefathers suffered under the autocratic rulers with restrictions on their rights. Today, we are more fortunate living in a democratic setup with some basic fundamental rights. We are far off better socially also as there are no caste or creed divisions which made the lives of socially backward people far worse than animals. We are today more knowledgeable about the universe and have explored far off planets like moon and mars, a feat which our forefathers could have never imagined. We can communicate with our friends on the other side of the globe in a flash of a second through telephones, satellite phones and the internet and can update ourselves with the latest news through radio television etc.. So the statement that our forefathers were luckier than us is a real travesty of truth, as we are far more fortunate to be living in the 21st century.

This feeling that the past was better is universal. We feel our past was better and our children would also that we were better off. The reason is that life is in the present. We find it difficult to surmount the present difficulties. We always look back and find that that was a rosy.
While saying so, I still feel that our forefathers were luckier in that they lived a really active life and enjoying every moment of it. There was more of self fulfilment and social harmony. They were more outgoing, not dependent on the external mechanical objects for their enjoyment. They were capable of simple and unalloyed joy, which is unknown to us.

sometimes you can say yes and sometimes no.It is difficult to decide whether our forefathers were luckier than us or not .
Because boon and bane are complementary of each other. If there is boon ther will also be bane and if there is bane there will also be boon.
EYES: At the time of our forefathers , their eyes were free of specs also at old age because at that time there were no tv's and computers but now we have tv's and computers so mostly we wear specs even at smaller age.
TEETH: Again our forefathers was having strong teeth's because they use natural things for their teeth's for example at that time they chew stem of a neem tree ,salt etc. now we have toothpastes and at the age of 60 to 70 our teeth's starts breaking .
POLLUTION: At that time long journey was not possible because we were not having cars ,bikes , ship, aeroplane etc. but boon was that there was no pollution . Now we have all advanced vehicles which creates pollution and results in lungs disease.
Now we cannot decide whether our forefathers were luckier than us because in some cases they were luckier and in some case we are lucky
1. From health point of view they were lucky
2. according to advanced technology we are lucky
3. we have speed they don't have speed
4 They were free of pollution we are full of pollution.Hence from pollution point of view they were lucky .
THANKS FOR ASKING NICE QUESTION

They were sure luckier.
There were natural calamities. They had overcome.
There were no number of institutions who were selling educaton. There was respect for educaton. Educated were true and received respects from society.
There was respect for merit.
Now you find in many countries children having extraordinary talents. Not even a single organisation globally willing to finance them and give them education in their own country of birth.
They are ready to conduct half naked parades on stages aiming for a booty. Millions of currency flow there not for donating edu cation. Flesh trade booms. Parents have no say.
Forefathes irrespect of religion were masters of what they believed and preached the best and not hatred.
Competing and fighting and killing has become order of the day.
There were no such mind diversions to our forefathers.
All were religious minded and giving due respects to other religions too.
Now for money no body knows who will do what.
There was peace in the family.
Elderly were respected and were listened to what they advised.
Now to disprect is the main theme of many media. This is acknowledged with claps. Even awards come to the producers.
Luring people of downtrodden for clumsy religious targets.
They had never heard of.
Just see question and answers in many locations!
They are not ashamed of putting such a question. It is equal to
washing dirty linen publicly.
Rich plays havoc among the societies of downtrodden. Education is costly and unreachable to those who long for it.
Forefathers were able to pursue their higher education without much financial burden except for their travel and staying away for certain achievements.
Here one is not allowed to concentrate, surrounded by evils and devils.
Forefathers protected the agriculture and put atmost care for its improvement and thus benefitting the mass.
Now many youngs are ashamed of going to the field even they are education in that line. What they want fatty salary quickly.
Probably uncontrolled mixing of foreign cultures may be the route cause.
Forefathers were able to live long with a sound health. They maitnained. They knew their own medicines. Could lead a happy life.
Duplication of medicines, no check on it, methods and loop holes to escape detection, funny interpretations, finally leave the common man a laughing stock.
Introduction of modern type of chemicalised food lead to disasters. One office claiming there is insecticide in some fashion drinks some say it is not, some courts rule there are, some courts rules one cannot interfere thus leaving the people in utter confusion.
Forefathes were healthy and they had their offsprings healthy. Gradually failure in punctuality, sincerety in life, diversion of attention to unnecessary matters, animalic sex activities leave even a tender heart to go astray.
Death was very sorrowful in a family. Now no time even to attend the last rites. The present generation show examples of other countries.
Rituals have changed, forgotten, on the plea that they are all time consuming. Ok. But what they do because of paucity of time and pressure of life it is inhuman to not to be ready to give respect to the old. Forefathers never had such a catastrophe.
They were positive
We are minus now
Tomorrow zero.
