we call it pedophilia, but it has been a part of human kind for a very long time. Up to the middle of last century, it was common for a man of 20 to marry a girl of 12-14.

Other than the most publicized cases of female teacher-male student relationships, there have been over 200 other incidents reported in a recent period. As a teacher at one time, I find it very hard to believe that it's going on so much. I wouldn't touch a female student for fear it would be misconstrued by the student or others as molestation. When it came to disciplining a female student, I had to call on a female teacher to do it.

It seems to me that there has been a breakdown first in the preparation of teachers. Maybe there should be a better screening process for prospective teachers, psyche workups or something. With the kind of less than formal relationship that female teachers are encouraged to take with students today it's not so surprising. Since it's considered maternal for a females to demonstrate some kind of affection to students, there's a wide gap for abuse. And there's so much emphasis on openess, creative teaching methods, and non-structured classes that a need for a formal classroom discipline is no longer present. But it's needed so that there's no blurring of roles for the students and the teacher.

I'm sure there are men teachers taking advantage of their roles with young female students, but there are way fewer men teaching, especially in the 5th through 8th grades, and there are so many more strictures put on male teachers, both professionally and societally that it's not as easy for a man to get away with anything. Of course, in either case, the other students would always know about it; so the secret wouldn't be kept that long unless it was considered "cool".

It's crazy. If the teacher really loved the student they would wait until the student was 18. When the teacher is a male he probably just likes girls that are young. The girls are looking for someone to love them so they give in. However when the teacher is female she probably really does love the student or just can't find any guy her own age to be with. I don't consider the guys victims because teenage guys are so horny. They just want to have sex.

Pedophilia, child molestation, and statutory rape are a crime. No teacher should ever use their authority to take advantage of a child. These people have some serious mental issues. I'm serious, there's something wrong with their brain that makes them not think it's wrong to have sex with a child. It's disgusting!

Those people are sick. I dated my history teacher when I was in the 9th grade. Of course being a young teenage girl, I thought it was cool, but now that I am grown and have teen girls myself--- I know how nieve I was and how sick he was. Its a terrible thing knowing that people like that are in our school systems
