the safest place to refill is in a dust free bath tub!!
then when you spill some you can use a dust pan to pick them up

Also try filling it in the bathtub. That way if any of the filling spills in won't go everywhere.

Use an oversized funel made for changing antifreeze in a car, that should work ducky!
