I don't want it to even smell like bribery, but I have five teachers each writing me two recs a pop, and most of these teachers are writing about 40-50+ rec letters for other students, plus they are some of the most involved teachers on campus. What's a nice (preferably not anti-fat wallet syndrome) way to say "thank you for your time"?

The very nicest thing you can do is to go to see them personally, have a little chat and thank them not only for the letters of recommendation but also express your appreciation for their classes.

If that is not possible, write them a really warm thank-you note.

Do not offer them a gift and indicate it is for writing your recommendations. They could be offended.

By succeeding and doing well. Showing them that they DID make a difference. Yes its delayed but I suspect the best gift you'll ever give them is that feeling of accomplishment and pride. Teachers, like parents, live vicariously through their students and seeing someone benefit from there sacrifices of their greater dreams makes it worth their life spent.
