I'm using Alltel prepaind plan. It offers the preaid cell phone as low as $9.98. It offers 3 tyes of preaid plans (U prepaid): paid by minutes, paid by day, and pay by month.

Pay-per-day, I think this is the best value deal which is the one that I'm using now. It charges me 75 cents per day and I get to choose two add-on options for free. The add-on options are "free nights & weekends", "free mobile to mobile" and "unlimited text messaging". It costs me 10 cents per minute during the day time. However I'm usually at work during the day time. Therefore toal bill per month is about $25.00.

The website for the plan details and selection of cell phones avaible for the prepaid plan can be found at:

Depends who his network supplier is. They all have different plans. How legit is your friend? He may be taking you for a ride!
