Sadly it is pretty much dead. There is still a niche for it, but I don't think we will ever see it really regain the popularity it once had. I'm not really the biggest punk fan, but it deserves some credit and atleast should be able to live on it the hearts of its fans

Punk is not dead. You aren't going to hear it on the radio or see it on MTV. Put punk music next to most of the crap on the raio today and the consensus would be that Punk is the only music that is truely alive
Even when somebody sells out and waters down their sound, it can't be that bad. Some kid is going to read in the liner notes or pay attention to some singer's influences when they were younger. Then they can check into a whole mess of music that certainly isn't dead. If they decide to pick up a guitar and kick around some drums, then we have more punk. It will live on.

Mainsteam punk was bent over the table and took it up the *** from this Emo music claiming to be Punk. There is still the huge underground scene that has both horrible and great music. The problem is the punks feel the need to stay underground and if their band signs to a major label, then they are "Selling out". Look at Against Me!. Great band, deserved a major label...lost many fans for "Selling out"

No punk is not dead- not as yet- because there are artists like green day who are still hanging on- and there are fans of this awesome genre too- people need to focus on rock - esp genres lik punk, funk instead of always listening to hip hop

The music is not but in my opinion the look or shock factor of brightly coloured big hair & spiked jackets no longer can mean what it did becouse peaple just arent shocked easly thiese days so you cant rebell in the sense of fasion as you could in the early 80's

there is still a pretty strong underground scene. bands like lower class brats, the virus, a global threat, and the unseen help keep it alive. though most people's perception of "punk" is terribly delusional.
were still here, and were not going anywhere.
