let's get rid of it and i like the color red

Rid is pronounced different than red. Listen to the vowels. that's what I learned in the 2nd and 3rd grade.
If you get confused with the pronunciation of vowels I suggest you get a work book from a book store to brush yourself up on the many sounds of vowels and the consonants which indicate the way you say loose, lose or loss.

Rid & Red are two different words.... Rid is "to dispose off" , Red is a Colour...

Nope, just like the earlier two said. They are homophones. If they were spelt the same, they'd be homonyms. I think I got that right.
