My daughter is seven months old and I am not sure what is causing her to do this, but everyday she has a sort of crying spell that lasts for 15-30 minutes. My question is what causes her to do this? Is it possible that she is having something similar to a temper tantrum? I wonder if it has something to do with separation anxiety because (even though I am a stay at home mom and sit with her 24/7) when I walk out of the room it hurts her feelings. She has had some allergies lately due to weather and I thought maybe it was this or that she is teething because she doesn't have teeth yet. Also my husband is in the military and has gone for training. They have been inseparable since her birth, is it possible she is upset because she misses him or maybe just gets tired of me all the time? Any advice or ideas about what could be the cause of this would be appreciated. I love her so much and just hate seeing her when she has these spells.

And also for everyones info, I never leave her unattended when she gets hysterical like this. I always try to divert her attention or to find something to make her calm down. But still it worries me that she is trying to communicate her feelings to me and I am just NOT getting it!

No. She does this at different time intervals but not at night while she sleeps or in the morning (she is in a good mood in am). I don't see a pattern there. As for a sling, she weighs 20 lbs and I am pregnant so I don't think I could manage that one.

Its hard to tell at that age, it could be separation anxiety, if that is the case, she'll eventually get used to it. I'd check with your Dr. about it, just to make sure it isn't medical. Teething can cause great discomfort as they grow in, give her a cool teething ring in that case.
In the case of separation anxiety, best to watch her but not give in right away, children need to learn to comfort themselves. It will reappear over the next few years, but they'll get over it. My baby used to cry hysterically whenever daddy went to work, then one day she waved goodbye and it was daddy's turn to cry..lol. It'll all be fine in time. :)

Sounds like you are doing great and really meeting her needs! She is probably starting the separation anxiety pahse and because babies don't yet have a sense of "object permanance" when she can't see you , she has no idea that you will come back.
This may sound silly, but isn't it strange that this is the time that babies start to "get" and enjoy peekaboo. It's a great way to teach her that you are still around even if she can't see you.
Also, you say its a specific length of time. Is it near nap or bedtime? Or feeding times? Perhaps she is ready for a slight change of schedule?
One last thing, do you have a sling, MeiTai or Ergo that you can carry her in? baies that learn that you can be trusted actually have an easier time becoming independant later on, because they know they can trust you to be there when you really need them.

Don't worry, sweetie, it's probably separation anxiety! My kids did the same thing. My kids had allergies also, so I understand your concern there, you wouldn't want to leave them upset if they were... uncomfortable. I think I read something that said that babies often have separation anxiety at 6,9,12 months. Of course, who knows who wrote that book! Anyway, go with your mother's intuition, you know what is best. And try, even though babies are trying, to enjoy them...it goes by so fast....

My grandchild started crying like that at seven months and about 3 weeks later he had a bottom tooth, so sometimes the pain is there and you can't see the tooth yet, and it sounds like you are a good mom so watch out for a tooth

If you think that she may be teething give her Hyland Teething Tablets (Walmart, grocery stores have them). They are all natural and they disolve in baby's mouth. My son slept all night when he was teething after I started giving him these. Also try baby orajel on her upper and lower gums in the front to see if that helps her calm down. It could also be that she is sensing that you are upset, tired, etc because of your being pregnant and your husband being gone.

you sound like you're definantly trying your best.. I can understand your frustration.. my son is currently teething and he will cry non-stop for long periods of time... maybe try rubbing her gums with a cold wet washrag.. sometimes babies just need to cry.. no explanation why, they just do.. it helps their lungs develope
