The Russian chemist Dmitri Mendeleev who first devised the periodic table in 1869 intended the table to illustrate recurring "periodic" trends in the properties of the elements. The chemical properties of an element which vary differently when moving vertically along the columns of the table (group or family), than when moving horizontally along the rows (period) make the table periodic.♥

After every 7th element d eighth element repeats the properties of the 1st element n so it makes periodic table periodic. I think it's dis only. i'm not sure

"Periodic" would probably refer to somthing being arranged in an orderly fashion. When u look at elements going down in each group u notice that they conatin the same number of electrons on the last shell and the one below has one more shell than the one above it; and wen u go across, u see that they contain the same number of shells in each line..........u see some type of "sorting" in the way the elements are arranged and they are also grouped based on some of their chemical properties.........
