Don't know if "target" correct , but America has always been a fertile ground for spiritual seekers, probably because of the nature of our society. Other places are mired in traditional religious dogma.

Because only in America is the 700 club able to be on the air while family guy gets the ban stick.
Only in America is Christianity actually accepted as a valid viewpoint instead of bullshit, my bad, I mean a faith accepted by some but with no circumstantial evidence.
Only in America is it ok to say kill every white man, yet hit a black man going 100 mph down a residential street, drunk, with a night stick is racism and means of prosecution.
Only in America can no one really give ashit about gays, yet if they want to get married the wrath of god needs to be brought down upon us.
Only in America is it ok to get drunk off your asss, yet getting stoned can land you in prison.
Only America actually believes prayer does shitt.
I can keep going, but I think you get the point. The reason fundamentalism targets America so well is because we are full of retards that accept dogmatic crap without even questioning in the slightest.
