This happens to me a lot. I'm walking down a hallway or a sidewalk, and I see someone I kind of know, but not really that well. We both know that the other person is coming, and we have to pretend like we see eachother only a few meters from when we pass eachother.

Does anyone else hate this kind of experience?

I think that the other person might feel just as akward. You can find comfort in empathizing with them...

You can also occupy your mind with thoughts about different projects you have going on or are planning, Day dream, distract yourself.

Or, you can always try stairing directly at them so you can experience the worst of the akwardness and get over it ^_~

I empathize with ya buddy! ^_^

Smile and thank your lucky stars you had the opportunity to share a hallway with another human being. And life goes on. I myself, prefer to share a smile as I pass someone. Maybe they too will smile, and then they may pass the smile on to the next new person in the next hall. Don't sweat the small stuff kid. Lot's of Love.

Totally. I hate looking down, waiting for them to get closer to only look up, smile and maybe say hi. Why do we do it? I don't know. In college I made it my personal goal to smile and every person walking around campus...you know, everyone walking around trying to ignore each other? It kind of worked, but it was a lot of hard work to get others to open up! Oh well...

Stop pretending. Be who you are. That doesn't meant to be outrageous, but if you have got something on your mind and would rather not say any thing, then don't. People will think what they want to anyway. How do you know they are not thinking, "oh that one there, you can only tell they are pretending." If you are being who you are, chances are there will be fewer misconceptions than if you are trying to be something you are not.

whats wrong with just waving or saying hi. acknowledging someone even if you don't like them never hurt anybody and makes you a better person for it. If you owe them money just run like hell.
