I have hazel-green eyes. I used to think that they would change colors too. But they don't actually change colors. If you look closely, my eyes are mainly green, with a blue ring between the green and the white part of my eyes. Also, there are some brown patches here and there. The only seem to change depending on what colors you're wearing. When I wear blue shirts, my eyes look blue. If i'm wearing brown, then they look brown.

Eye color depends on what the dominant or recessive gene is in your family. You may have had a great, great, great, great grandfather with colored eyes! As for eyes changing color, almost everyone in my family has had their eyes change color over time. When I was younger, mine were a very dark blue. Now they're a very pale, ice blue! My mom's were blue, now they're green. It's interesting. And I think that you'll find many people find this very attractive rather than weird. Darker skin tone makes the color in the eyes just come to life! I have a Mexican friend with the prettiest blue eyes ever. I have blue eyes, but people always comment on his because it's unexpected! Just embrace it!

Hazel is a combination of colors: green, yellow, brown & blue in varying degrees. When you wear certain colors, it brings out that part of color in your eyes. Lighting also has something to do with it: if it's sunny or cloudy, bright or dim.

Yes, I have hazel (brownish-green shade) eyes too and they change colors depending on what I am wearing. For instance, they turn more green when I wear purple. It's really quite neat I think:)

Relative color perception. I wear a red shirt they're green by comparison, a green shirt and they're brown by comparison. The parts of the brain that process vision play up contrast for clarity.
Unless you're talking about the variation in color in the individual eye itself. That's an open question that's still being teased out by developmental biologists.

I have hazel green eyes too. Mine usually look green but can look more blue or gold. They are really green with a darker ring and gold flecks.
I believe the light quality and the colors you wear can make them look different, but the eyes dont really change. My fiance has green eyes too and his sometimes look really green and other times more of an bronze or gold color.
I have found ways to accentuate the green. Using a copper or henna colored eye liner or a bit of shadow right down near the top eyelashes helps. So does pink or purpish eye shadow. An eggplant colored eyeliner will also make your eyes really green. I think my reddish blond hair makes them look greener too.
The trick is to use these makeup tricks really subtly so other people can't see the color too much, the just see your pretty green eyes !!!

I don't think they do change but lighter eyes (or eyes with less pigmentation) tend to reflect other colours and as a result, may look a slightly different shade. Ihave green eyes but they can often look blue if I wear the right shade to offset them. Darker eyes with more pigmentation cannot reflect colours as easily as their shade is more defined
