Do you mean the blood was dark or the stool was dark? He may have strained a little too hard when he pooped and bled a little. If the blood was dark it could be an ulcer (Children can get them too) Call the doctor and get him checked out.

Only your pediatrician can tell you if there is anything to worry about. Give their office a call to find out what you should do.

Usually blood in the stool indicates that your tot is straining when he has a bm. This also should tell you that he needs a bit more fiber in his diet and less starchy foods such as breads, potatoes etc.

If you don't want to take him to see his doctor. Try giving him more fruits and veggies. Make sure he's drinking water also.

If this does not work to change the color of his stool and you are still seeing blood when he poops then make an appt with the pediatrician.

Did he eat watermelon because I know if they don't eat it all the way that it could come out and look like a string of blood. But you should call a 24 hour nurses hot line at your local clinic or hospital to see if they have any suggestions.

Why would you hesitate to call your doctor with your concern? That's part of the job, especially a pediatrician or family doc.

I dont think its too worrying.
If its only a bit of blood it should be pretty normal.
After all, he doesnt seem to be in pain, does he?
