Drink plenty of fluids, get plenty of rest, take some type of cold medicine there are literally hundreds sold over the counter. I personally think, Alka-Seltzer Plus is great, doesn't have aspirin, contains Acetaminophen and Benadryl. Sorry bud no magic bullet, the common cold is 7 to 10 days. If your lucky medication will lessen the symptoms. Find the cure to the common cold and your a billion Arie.

There are no fast cures! A cold is caused by a virus and is self-limited to about 14 days. You will recieve dozens of suggestions but all of the are palliative, that is they treat symptoms, not the virus. If such a fast cure could be found, it would be prescription, so that drug companies could make a good profit. Most of the products (OTC drugs) relieve symptons...head congestion, headache, fever, cough and you can buy each one individually rather than spend extra money for the same result. I am sure you will have suggestions of chicken soup, garlic, and miracle OTC drugs...but it is viral and we do not have OTC virocides. I am a physician.

Once you have a cold, there is really nothing one can do to get rid of it faster. The best thing to do is in a sense "overdose" yourself with echinacea, vitamin C, and Zinc as soon as you feel as if you may be getting sick - before you get sick, or when everyone around you is getting sick. This will strengthen your immune system so that you will be less likely to catch the virus, and f you do catch it, it is likely it won't last as long as if you were to not be taking these supplements. Drink a lot of fluids, excercise, and wait it out. There's a new supplement out (in Canada atleast) called ColdFX or something, that claims to get rid of colds faster, you could try it or something similar. Tylenol cold and flu, Benalyn, and Nyquil are just medications that ask the symptoms of a cold/flu but don't actualy help you get rid of it faster - justs makes it feel as if you aren't as sick. I know being sick really sucks but the only thing you can do unfortunately is wait, and then do all you can to prevent from getting sick again.

I like Actifed. It drys and stops the itching. Don't take after 4:00pm it could keep you awake at night. Avoid stressful situations if you are at work. Just stay quiet and to yourself. Go outside and spend a few minutes in the sun at lunch. Stay as positive as you can. I think that alot of negativeness can really let a cold drag out. Eat food that makes you feel good. Certain juices like tomato and even prune juice can really energize you.

as soon as you feel a cold coming on, take echinacea, take two to three capsules a day until you feel better a bit, and drink orange juice with it, and also drink a lot of water too.
it helps take the edge off of the cold, does not cure it, but it does help, you can get the echinacea at kmart/walmart, etc. fairly cheap

As soon as you feel it coming on take Echanacia before you to bed that evening, the cold will be knocked out by the time you get up in the morning.

there is no "fast "way to curing a cold..just get plenty of vitamin c..drink lots of liquids, especially o.j., and maybe even some hot tea with a little lemon and honey in it...colds ,like the flu,are caused by a virus, and it has to run it's course..stay in as much as possible, under warm blankets..and remember..hand washing frequently ,will help reduce the exposure.... :)
