Every culture has this problem with modernization. Most people call this Westernization, but I think it is actually a universal trend that is not really modelled on Western culture. The West just happened to be first.

This question is pertinent to the prevalent times. Firstly, as a post modernist i like to question what is culture. Does culture mean going back to conservative times, or moving forward. You can be cultural innate and go away from it at the same time. It is tough attribute to perform, this is what is done in today's times in families, relations, friends the term "Masking" . One who is excellent masker has have dual personalities is expert in this attiribute. One this highlighted in the question above shows that economic independence is the prime most factor for change in the cultural attributes. The question comes here what has modernity, economic independence given us ? Are we challenging the normatism and concepts of Bounded Rationality. ? If these questions can be answered we are sure to find a solution to what is bad or good? But in fact nothing is negative or positive, it depends on individuals, communities, societies what is good or bad. Lets leave on the civil soceity to decide.

At the right place. When you ask yourself this question, it means you are trying to find the values. I am in the same position. My grandparents were Indians , but I was born in South Amerika, in a Western culture. My husband is white , but I treasure the traditions of my ancestors. And you know, in my country (maybe the only country in the world) there are Chinese, Indonesians, Africans, Arabs,Jews, Hindoes and Muslims with Indian roots and Amer-Indians(natives),whites and we live peacefull together. We celebrate our festivals together and are proud of our own traditions. Saturday we are celebrating Divali although I am a christian (but my family is Hindu). I would not feel complete if I would not participate. It's my roots after all.

The current generation is Lost, the high speed with which they are making money is leading to an extremely wayward lifestyle. And taking that most are trying to ape the western culture without actually understanding that the mindset there, it's bound to end with a short life from the drugs and alchohol OD's.

Indian culture is the best culture in the world. But this culture is going to modernization........... no over modernization. We r all indians get only worst thing from western culture, like discos, dating, pubs, violence thing etc. But they r get good thing from us like yoga. They come for research to here & then stick label of own country.
Exp: ATOM. Atom bomb first time used by Tipu Sultan but that was primary stage. Then they were come for research & developing the atoms. But all says that USA used first time in world war.

Every Tribe in every Nation has value to offer on this continent. Even with all the horrors that the Native American Indians have endured, you can touch the land and know you are home. Immigrants many who have also suffered in there home lands have lost home.
It is a Divine mission to keep the history of the Nations alive. Your knowledge of the Great Spirit is a light to the world that God put the knowledge of him in all mankind. The immigrant world needs to see the value of the Nations so they can repent for their trespass on a great people. To reject the culture is to perish. We must always learn from the forefathers.

yeah! from my point of view getting stick to our Indian culture really matters.its really true that we are getting attracted towards western culture as well as forgetting our roots.we just go to pub, discos etc to have fun.but still today going to family festival r also enjoyed by many of us.at last i would like to conclude that, getting attracted towards western culture has both positive such as women's are becoming more independent and negative aspect that is we are forgetting the value of our family but still we should try to grasp the positive part of it and ignore the negative for our better future.

culture is different from modern activities. In these modern days, we do all as the western countries. But our culture is our heritage. We are identified by our culture, so we should stick our indian culture wherever we are. That is indians.

We don't find any clause regarding this in our Constitution.
It is entirely upon you as to follow which culture, religion, traits etc.
And also you can develop a modern out look towards anything related to you.
You can also remain an orthodox.
Nobody will bother you.
