I want to know if the film is true to the book, or if they omit or change certain parts.

I'm half-way through the book, and I won't be able to finish it all by tomorrow - so I thought it might be frugal to watch the film, just so I have an idea (I DO plan on finishing the book).

I've read it and saw a few versions of it. The one with Kate Beckinsale in the title role is a little more true to the book than the Gwyneth Paltrow version, but both leave a lot of stuff out. The 1972 BBC version is the most true to the original, but the acting is not nearly as entertaining as the two more recent versions.

The newest movie is pretty true to the book unlike many other book-based movies (LOTR cough, cough).
I'm pretty sure they omit the miss bates scenes but there are only small changes due to time restraint, all in all its a good movie and a pretty good book.
The director and producers kept the book's integrity intact

The film, like most adaptations is not true to the book. Keep reading!
