You won't get away with it. But you and the other members of some unions, like the Teamsters and the UAW, all have to file grievances against the company that pays you, any time the union shop steward says so, like at the time of contract negotiations. You can perhaps show some disagreement with the union by writing a clearly meritless grievance and tell the shop steward that you can't really think of anything better. The unions don't care. They just want a lot of "grievances" to report to the media. Sheer propaganda.
Antics like this by many unions have forced good, responsible American employers to move their operations to "right-to-work" states and overseas, or to close down altogether.
