As a Yankee fan, I think there finally seeing this question you asked. I personally miss that chemistry they had back in 1996 and 98-00. Turning in to the 2002 season on, they started to look toward the big guns, like getting Giambi and splat...its been chaos since. WAY too many superstars!
I feel because of the success both Cano and Wang had this year as well as Melky Cabrera, they will start looking toward the smaller role players. They have to get younger and the trend toward champion teams is to have the right mix. On a side note, look at the Tigers... what a mix. Some unknowns, some superstars, otherwise great chemistry

Don't feel much like arguing today so let me just say this:
A lot of the superstars on the Yankees this year came from their farm system. No "buying" necessary.
But I do agree that the Yankees didn't have great chemistry this year. Something was a bit askew and A-Rod took the brunt of it.
Was he responsible? Partly, not fully. That's what I think, anyway.

ru a tool? I hate the mets but I don't think they tried to buy a championship. The mets are in ny and they spent less than 1/2 of what my fav team the yanks did. I think they showed a lot of heart with a good mix of vets and youngsters! Wright, Chavez, Reyes, Valentin, Perez, Maine, Hernandez, Milledge: are these guys overpaid allstars? you better wash your eyes because every team and i mean every team pays for a few talented players. the only team that has a supposed all star at every position is my team is the yanks. i wish they didn't because they would probably have better chemistry like they did in the late 90's

The Mets spending too much on big name players? Hahaha........nice joke. Check out Jose Reyes, David Wright, Jose Valentin, Oliver Perez, Orlando Hernandez, Endy Chavez, Lastings Milledge, etc. How much do u think the Mets were paying Reyes and Wright last season? Honestly, every team has at least some big name players (I think this is an undeniable fact).

YES!!!!! The Twins, Oakland A's, San Diego, etc. seem to always get close, because they have youth. Detroit made it this year because of Pudge, who helped show the young'uns how to make it to the final dance And Leyland is the BEST manager EVER. My team wanted to hire him a few years back, and he turned them down. Too many EGOS on the Yankees, Mets, and Braves, which is why they always fail to get to the SHOW.

Well I don't think stubborn Steinbrenner will ever be told anything he will listen to. If a player is paid all that money I think at times he loses his hunger-and the players that play with a chip on their shoulder with something to prove conquer the giants. Hooray for small market teams, players, coaches, and most of all the fans!

I don't think the Yankees spent enough, hahaha, they should spend more, cuz stupid Steinbrenner can afford it.
The players don't really care about winning just taking the money and run
