In business is it better to see the big picture or master the details?

It depends on your job. If you work in the mail room and spend the day understanding and optimizing the delivery of mail, while failing to accurately deliver the mail...I would guess that your job is in jeopardy.

If you mean which pays higher, the strategists (big picture people) tend to. But that is what they are hired for.
