I am white and recieved a promotion. I was subjected to racist remarks frequently. When I showed another white person in the office a picture of my kids, two weeks later I was demoted to the position I had before showing the pictures. I have already involved the EEOC and they say I have a good case. My job will recieve the papers of descrimination in 10 days. They tell me they wont begin the investigation for 6-8 months. The doctor has put me out of work for severe stress and depression because of this. I know there will be reprocussions for reporting them. Can the NAACP help me with this?

The ACLU and EEOC would be your best bet. The NAACP usually doesn't back individual cases; they usually get involved more with "causes". Good for you for pursuing this, I wish you luck! Too many people let issues like this go, "enabling" racism and discrimination.

They might, but only because your kids are black. You have already involved the EEOC. I might also try the ACLU. If you elect to get the NAACP involved, you might subject yourself to more resentment and obstruction to the investigation than getting the other groups involved. The NAACP is seen by some to be a rascist organization. If you go to them, it will probably backfire. Your co-workers will definitely be less likely to cooperate with the NAACP then they would with the EEOC or ACLU. Also the NAACP tends to go public with these cases causing your children and your family members to become public targets.

I would contact the ACLU ( I really don't like them normally but this is one thing they can do well)

And you can try the NAACP, but I will be honest I have contacted them on several racial discrimination issues, including people fasley arrested but they have never once responsded to anything I have sent them

It sounds to me that you have a reasonable and sound case. I think that you may be best off to contact your local NAACP chapter directly. Be sure to have as much documentation as possible!!!

And to the jerk elitist_much? I guess you've never forgotten to hit spell check or made a mistake? Thanks for giving this woman a lousy answer dipshit!!

Maybe you were demoted because you can't spell simple words, like discrimination.

They probably figured out you weren't qualified, please don't bring your kids into that mess.
