As a Met fan from the Tom Seaver era, I have to say that this was a very good series... I mean, it doesn't get much more exciting than going into the 9th inning of game 7 all tied up.

The Cards played a great series, and deserved to win. Chris Carpenter got rocked pretty good by the Mets, but their other pitchers came through magnificently.

I'm watching the Mets tonight and thinking, "it looks like the Mets are seeing a curve ball for the first time in their lives...they couldn't touch it".

And going into the bottom of the 9th, I was thinking, man, the Mets are a long way from having Beltran up again, since he batted in the 8th inning...

That was a great game 7... it came down to the home team having their best hitter up in the bottom of the 9th inning with the bases loaded...exactly the situation they wanted... Beltran didn't come through, but those are the breaks.

St. Louis and Detroit are two great baseball towns, with a great baseball tradition... let's hope they can give us a great World Series...

I guess Detroit would have to be the favorites, but I wouldn't count either of these teams out of anything...they've both come through this post season with great performances when they needed them...

I was trying to think back to the last time a home team lost a 7th game... I thought of the Red Sox in 75, and couldn't think of any more recent occurances... sure enough, they mentioned tonight that the '75 Red Sox were indeed the last team to lose a 7th game at home (until tonight, that is).

Congratulations to the Cardinals and the Tigers!

I'm also dissapointed, my hopes for a Subway series were dashed earlier on, and I think Detroit/NYM woulda been a good one. Hats off to the Cards, they played well and the Mets played their hearts out to force tonight's game. So, I totally agree!!

it was a very good series! I was actually thinking before the series that the Mets would sweep. But, I'm a Giants fan so it doesn't matter to me that much anyway.

It was a great series, and even better since I'm a lifelong Cards fan. :)

I was consistently impressed by the Mets lineup, however.

It was so good I almost screamed " FLAVOR FLAV ! ! ! ! ! ! "

btw : I know just how you feel ~ my Yankees were out in the 1st round!

At least the Mets made it to the NLCS!
And they were the first team to clinch a division series title,
so you can be proud of that, too! : )

Very good and unexpected. I thought with what the Mests did during the season would carry over but you know what they say the regular season and the post-season are two different season.
