Withour Pedro Martinez, Hernandez and after the Cardinals got by Tom Glavin, did the Mets ever have a chance to win the N.L.C.S. without their top pitchers?

Congrats to the Cardinals and their fans. It was a great seven game series. Exciting.

Dertroit Tigers or The St. Louis Cardinals.

Hey people it is a game not life or death. Enjoy watching but don't get so into it you are bummed out if your team loses. Just remember it is a GAME.

The Metropolitians did very well without Martinez and Hernandez. They beat the Cardinal's ace pitcher Carpenter twice in the series! I doubt that a team has ever beaten the other team's ace twice in a seven game series and lost before this.
When you look at that fact I think what happened is they had a let down in each game afterwards when Suppan was pitching. This was the mistake of the Mets batters, not their pitchers.
The Cardinals limped into the playoffs barely winning their division after having a 8.5 game lead on the 20th of September!
Even though they won their first series against the Padres, the Mets just took them a bit too lightly even though they were without Martinez and Hernandez. Especially in New York, you can't help it, your thoughts are at least somewhat swayed by all of the media attention and they all had the Mets going to the world series since July! If you start to allow yourself to believe this then you are no longer giving a 100% effort at all times. Your still trying but when a part of you feels that you have it already, it's harder to perform.
Now it becomes interesting for the Tigers. They have had a week to reflect on their accomplishments. Can they turn it back on after such a long lay off? Can the Cardinals find enough offense to overcome the Detroit picthing staff?
My prediction is Detroit in 6 games.

mixed thoughts. satisfied that they try to strengthen the problem (on a similar time as particularly of a "purist" i imagine that the conception of declaring that umpire mistakes is "part of the game" is ridiculous in case you are able to fix it) yet no longer authentic delighted with the attitude they'll use. i might want to need that they rather in basic terms upload a fifth umpire to each and every team and function them somewhat in the ballpark. And enable them settle on if a play might want to be reviewed. I hate the conception of demanding circumstances - for one I hate to work out the variety of comments restricted in besides. I also might want to question if it will be conceivable for a manager to regulate the project gadget. for instance - residing house team has a 10 run lead in the accurate of the fifth and apparently like a typhoon is coming. possibly the travelling manager makes use of his appeals in an attempt to decelerate the game in hopes that the rain might want to come before the game replaced into reliable? Or might want to a manager attraction performs to furnish a reliever extra time to warmth up? And what if an ump makes an extremely undesirable call once the appeals are used? Do you in basic terms enable it slide or do you somewhat opt to ensure the calls are accurate.

everybody had the Mets winning, all the NY press, the so-called experts on ESPN, I think the players on the Mets team were reading to much of the NY papers. The Mets have a very-good team but they ran into a team that was wrote off by everybody, except the CARDINAL players, and the greatest FANS in baseball.

Yes they had a chance. But, they didn't win. Note to mets: do not to try to take flight lessons this weekend because you have some free time now. Too many obstacles to fly around in NYC apparently.
