no goalkeepers dont need any more protection, what happened to Petr Cech was a fluke ,keepers now are like endangered species, you cannot go near them.Chelsea were very unlucky losing to keepers to serious injury , but by and large if you give a keeper a dirty look the ref will award him a free kick, yet not many years past you were allowed to physically challenge a goalIE ,ie bundle him in the net if he was holding the ball,Man City's Bert Trautmann played on with a broken neck in an F.A cup final .if that happened today ,the health and safety lobby would ban football, its a mans game and if you notice when a keeper catches the ball he always leaves his foot out to catch a passing forward

Yes they do because they goalie represents half of the team, a goalie can easily be injured because the attackers are always willing to take the goalie out. I think attackers or any other player that hurts the goalie on purpose should be not allowed to play the full season

I think they should be protected from deliberate or intentional tackles what happened to Cech and Cudicini was plain bad luck but what happened to Schwarzer and Given should have been given more attention I think Harewood should have been sent off with his challenge on Given.

Well after seeing what happened to the goalie of Chelsea perhaps some headgear would be in order.
