Your phone will work but at times it won't have good reception because there won't be enough towers around to support the signal. So make sure your service plan has a large service are before moving.

Welcome to what I affectionately call the "black hole" or "the valley of cell phone death". There really are places where cell phones do not work ... you can't get a call in or out on the cell phone. You just have to wait until you get some place else that has a tower in range, or use a good old-fashioned pay telephone.

What do you mean "cell phone service isn't available"?
If your phone can't receive digital signals from your wireless provider, it may still receiving analog signals (analog roaming), but you have to pay more when you make/receive a call.
(if your provider doesn't have Analog Roaming partners, your phone won't work but you can make emergency calls (911)

no it won't work, unless its an unlocked phone and you have a sim card for the new service in your new area. which is rare in the US because the phone companies don't like to unlock phones (they want to keep you trapped into thier service). your best bet is to sell your phone on ebay and get a new one.
