If you didn't get that, here's what I'm really on about. I need a few examples of rich or famous people who became rich and famous because they tried something different. They dared to do something that other people would have not done because, well, it was considered "stupid". They dared to be different.

Thanks!

Heard of the quote - "Don't play what's there, play what's not there?" Yes, relate to that quote.

isn't that what being famous is all about: standing out in the crowd? in order to stand out, you have to rise above the rest by doing something different. so, in essence, there are so many...

for starters:
Pablo Picasso
Andy Warhol
Marilyn Manson
Madonna

Do you mean like the Wright brothers or Henry Ford or Alexander Bell or Eli Whitney or Elijah McCoy?
Or maybe somebody like Einstein or Newton or Bill Gates or Galileo or Columbus or our astronauts?
Or Thomas Jefferson or the men who put their heads on the chopping block by signing the Declaration of Independence?
Or Carrie Nation or Sojourner Truth or Florence Nightingale or Rosa Parks?
Please be more specific.

Probably the best example I can think of is motivational speaker W Mitchell. Despite being horribly burned in a traffic accident and ending up in a plane crash six years later (where he was the pilot), he's done lots of things you'd never expect someone like him to have since done. For example, after both accidents he ran for Lieutenant-Governor of Colorado. After his traffic accident he even went into business--selling wood-burning stoves, of all things. Cassius Clay (Mohammed Ali) became famous because he was beating the crap out of every boxer who faced him; and then, refusing to accept being drafted into the military, faced five years of imprisonment. Ali stood up for, and accepted the consequences of his actions. Viet Nam was a quagmire and is now considered a U.S. debacle. Many a mother, father, wife, brother, sister, aunt, uncle, now wish their dead had refused to serve. Ali is alive, their loved one is not.
