The best... my fiance proposing with my engagement ring...
The worse... a 3-piece candle set of minature wax christmas trees which were chipped and looked like it was found at the bottom of the clearance bin at the discount dollar store, the box was crumpled and one of the candles looked like it was used (i bought the person a hand knit designer sweater that year!).

My best Christmas present ever was a date. I lived in a military town, and the pastor of my church and his wife had everyone who didn't have anywhere to go for Christmas over at there house, including me. I hung out with a couple of the Marines but never thought any of them liked me because I was too busy being GAGA over someone else. Anyway, in a conversation weeks before, I had mentioned that I loved Nat King Cole and old historical houses (not in the same conversation). So on Christmas day, after we ate, one of the guys told me his present to me was a trip he had arranged to explore a pre civil war plantation. This was in North Carolina. I was so happy. When we got into his car, he gave me a sly smile and popped in a tape of Nat King Cole. I had no clue that he had liked me, and even though I didn't share the same feelings back, it was one of the nicest days and best and most thoughtful presents I have ever received.
The worst was an ironing board from my EX husband.

The best? I couldn't say. The holidays usually aren't a good time for me. All of the really negative stuff I've been through (my family's divorce, my dad getting diagnosed with cancer, dad's death, Mom's serious car accident, etc) happens on holidays. So when I do get a good gift, it's usually off-set by the bad stuff going on.
But for the worst gift, and aside from what I mentioned above, I did get a toothbrush about 5 years ago, from my now-ex husband.

I worked for a company for 20 years ... 17 of those years was under the same owner and at Christmas I received a $6,000 bonus. Well, on year 18 the company was sold and the new owner gave me a Christmas bonus also -- a 5 pound CANNED HAM.

Worst present: a punch bowl from my husband of ONE year! I have hated punch bowls forever!
Best present: a tin box from my Mother. It was covered in cut-out Angels. It contained a scrapbook of my life, photos of me and her. A letter from her about my birth. And most precious of all............. a request to return my "thoughts".
