If it's a simple earache caused by a cold or sinus blockage, you can get some relief with warm olive oil.
Simply put some olive oil - DO NOT use any type of vegetable oil - in a spoon and warm it with a match. TEST it on your finger to make sure it's not too hot. It should feel warm/hot, NOT hot enough to burn. Soak a cotton ball in the oil and immediately place it in your ear. Don't cram the cotton ball all the way in, just far enough to seal off the air and create a warm pocket in the canal.
The warm oil allows the eustachian tubes to open and relieve the pressure that's causing the ache.
I'm the youngest of 11 kids in a large Greek family and this has worked for everyone of us, including all of our own children. If the ache doesn't lessen after a couple of hours, you probably have an infection that requires a doctor's treatment.
You can also buy a special oil for this at any drug store - it's called "Sweet Oil", but if you read the label it's contents are simply olive oil.
Hope you feel better soon!

They're right. You probably have an ear infection. If you can't go to the doctor, try taking decongestants to dry up your sinuses. That should relieve some pressure. Also put drops of warm olive oil in your ear to lube and soften the eardrum.
Don't take antibiotics without a doctor's prescription - you could have severe reactions.
