I am 23 years old and I have two children. I have been considering getting my tubes tied or cut and burned. I would like to know if anybody knows any info or if anyone has any thoughts about tubal ligation. I am interested in finding out about side effects and how effective this procedure is. Please share any knowledge on this topic.

We are not sure about any restrictions for males either. We are not married.

I don't know about Pennsylvania but in Illinois you have to be at least 25 with no kids or 21 with two or more kids so you would be ok here you have to sign a consent form and make sure you know it is permenant. I just had mine cut tied and burned they did it like an hour after i had my third baby 4 weeks ago. they will put you to sleep and they go right through your belly button the procedure you don't feel but when i woke up i was in the worst pain for about 5 hours after i guess you could compare it to a C-section. The doctor did say there is a chance of a tubal pregancy where the egg and sperm fertalize in the tubes and would result in a miscarrage you would still feel like you were pregant and a test would test positive.

This procedure is almost 100% effective. That's why you need to be 100% sure before you do it. If you change your mind, in some cases a doctor can attempt a reversal but it's not always successful. I'm in PA and remember (this was over 10 years ago, policy may have changed) a girl about age 20 telling me that her doctor wouldn't tie her tubes because she had to be over 21 or have 5 or more children.
Also, it's way more invasive for a woman to go through this so I say if you can talk your boyfriend/husband into getting snipped, do that instead!

I had a tubal- about 10 years ago at the age of 25, and haven't looked back since.
The only side effects that I can remember is the fact that they pump your chest with air so they can get to what they need to get to. (at least they did with me) And for a few hours afterwards your chest hurts like crazy.
It has been 100% effective for me.
Good luck.
