Im looking into becoming a cosmotologist, but I dont know how to do it.
Do I need to finish high school, or will my GED be enough?
What's the next step after that?!
I live in the greater Toronto area, what are some good beauty schools?
Thanks a lot!

Here's a list of some Beauty Schools in Toronto and the Toronto area:

However, I don't know how great they are as I just found these on google. Aveda's a pretty big name though, so I'm sure at least some of them must be good.

Just so you know though, it's spelled "cosmetologist" (with an E), not "cosmotologist"... :)

And I agree, you should definitely finish high school whether it's a requirement for beauty school or not. It looks MUCH better to potential schools, as well as on your resume to potential employers!

Good luck!

You would have to take an entrance exam if you don't have your diploma but some jobs will require either GED or diploma. You need to enroll in a hairstyling academy to begin and get a license from the state you live in. Each state requires different amount of hours for you to earn your license. You really should finish high school. It will get you farther in life than if you don't, believe it!!!

Aveda is an amazing school. I graduated from Paul Mitchell, and Aveda would be my second choice. Its pricey, but worth it.
The next step after hair school is to find a salon that you REALLY want to work at and talk to the owner. Chances are that you wont be hired off the bat, but if you are lucky you can assist (usually for free) for a year and then take a position. Assisting is hard and you will probably have to work a second job, but its worth it if you want to get a job at a high end salon.

I live in the U.S., and here a G.E.D. is all you need. Then you apply to a Beauty School or community college that offers an Associate of Arts degree in Cosmotology. After earning this credential, there is a Board Exam, and one becomes licensed to practice. Best wishes.

Finish high school
Then apply to a beuty school of your choice. I would go and let the students work on your hair and see what kind of instruction they receive....what people look like when they leave.

Finishing high school is always a good idea. I think you can become a cosmetologist if you got to a vocational school. Good luck to you! :)

Finish HS. No matter what you do, you need an education. If you want a better class clientele, you need to be able to speak intelligently or they will go elsewhere.
