G'day bianka m,
Thank you for your question.
It is a reference to the Trojan horse. It was a large horse left to the Trojans by the Greeks who were sieging the city. It contained Greece's best warriors who captured the city.
It came from Roman poet Virgil's Aeneid which covers the siege of Troy, and includes these lines spoken by Laocoön:
equo ne credite, Teucri.
quidquid id est, timeo Danaos et dona ferentis.
Meaning (depending on the translation) "Do not trust the horse, Trojans! Whatever it is, I fear the Greeks even bringing gifts", the lines are the origin of the modern adage to "Beware of Greeks bearing gifts."
The name is now used by malicious software pretending to be beneficial software.
I have attached sources for your reference.
Regards

The Trojan Horse was delivered to Troy as a gift from the Greeks. Once the horse was past the gates, the giant horse let loose Greek soldiers who attacked Troy.
This, by the way, has nothing to do with the saying don't look a gift horse in the mouth, which means about the exact opposite thing.

This is a reference to the trojan Horse. It means that someone may give you a present, or maybe just pretend to be your friend, in order to stab you in the back at some later time.

to me, it would be when they offered up the trojan horse as a gift--unbeknownst to the recipients, all the soldiers were hiding inside the horse & came out when everyone was asleep & slayed them.

It would mean that they were telling me that I should be careful because what this person/s were offering me may not turn out to be what it looks like.
