I was told to avoid aspirin and ibuprofen after my surgery. Hydrocodone already has acetaminophen in it, and 4000 mg daily is the maximum allowed dose for that. More will cause liver damage. I'd stick to the prescription and a heating pad over the site.

Ibuprofen works best for me, however, having to watch that you don't take it on an empty stomach can be a pain. So, in that case I would go with good old acetaminaphen. I don't even own a bottle of aspirin.

Aspirin -I take it in low dose for my heart & in higher dosage for headache. It's the strongest of the three & I have the proverbial "cast iron stomach" so it doesn't upset my stomach as it does to some.
