Look for the sound icon in the right hand side of the bottom toolbar called Sound manager. Right click on Sound Manager. Click on Volume Control.
Open that and adjust your sound. Make sure your speakers are turned on.

Up grading all your drives on a regular basis is very important to have your computer running right. I up grade all my drives from the manufacturer's web site at least twice a month. It sounds like that may be your problem.

Update the sound card's driver. Go to control panel. Click on Sounds, speech and audio devices. Update the driver.

I would suggest uninstalling the sound card from Device Manager and then reinstalling it.
or try this
used SFC to restore the deleted files for my sound card...
Goto RUN and type "sfc" and restore all sound card files that come up as deleted....
