My brother and I take turns using the computer. I've tried getting a little timer that went on the desktop that had a pop up come up when his turn is over but he always has an excuse why he needs to stay on and he gives me a hard time, making me wait a while before he can finally log off. Is there some way I can just press a key on the keyboard to 'lock up' the computer or some other simple way?

Do you have another pc on a home network? If so, you can use the shutdown command from XP:

shutdown -m \\computername (you'll need admin credentials)

You can also try PsShutdown from sysinternals.com if you can't find the shutdown program:

PsShutdown is part of PsTools.

PsShutdown \\computername -u username -p password

PsShutdown will work even on an older system that nobody cares to use anymore because it is slow. You still need to be on the network though.

It is very easy.
Try to hibernate it.
In Hibernating, you see that your computer shut down in 2 -3 seconds.

(1) Just go to >>> turn off computer.
(2) Hold down shift key & click on stand by button (which is renamed to hibernate.)
Note : When u start your computer, u see that u log on fastly.
