The song is about Billy Joe's, the lead singer, father passing away. He wrote it about his father. And in the music video, it's dedicated to the war in Iraq and the troops in Iraq. That's why the song is called "Wake Me Up When Septemer Ends" cause once September is over, that means the war is over in a sense.

Billie the lead singer of Green Day wen he was young his father died and he wen he found out he ran to his room and locked his door his mom was trying to comfert him and telling him "its ok come on out" and he is taking this really hard and all he can say is "Wake Me Up When September Ends". and it kinda deals with the world trade center that didnt really get hit by a plane, and the Twin Towers but mostly his beloved dad.

the song has a special meaning usually for the person who wrote it or the person it is written about. its a great song but when it first came out it was REALLY over played which can ruin a song but it didn't ruin that one!Green Day ROX! (older green day music is the best) but sometimes songs aren't meant to be so easy for everyone to understand. some are and some aren't.

Billie Joe is talking about how painful the month of his father's passing is. It hurts the whole month, I know exactly how he feels. Only my month is October.
