I've seen a lot of people on YA lately criticizing Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, and the like. Don't you realize your idols grew up listening to them?

All I gotta say is good gawd I hope so!!! I know I did, I grew up listening to the classics as well as the new stuff, and everything in between and outside. My daddy is a music man, and I owe it all to him. People criticize what they don't realize.

I am completely with you on this topic. I'm 23, and I'm sure that you're talking about people my age - but I do realize and tell people often, because the music of my generation does come from a much better era. I love classic rock - I grew up on it. Lots of people don't know that P. Diddy's "Every Breath You Take" is a remake of a Police song, or that John Mayer's "Message in a Bottle" was originally by Sting. Everyone does it; they take an oldie and make it into their own. I love both versions usually, but I don't think most of my generation even REALIZES that there ARE two versions - the original, and the cover. Half of all songs are covers now-a-days. Every song by The Beatles and Bob Dylan has been redone by countless artists, and it will continue. I just wish people would realize that the current musician did not write that particular little ditty, and that they're paying homage to the greats. I think Bowling for Soup's "1985" song let some of the young ones out there know that Blondie, White Snake and Duran Duran exist, and hopefully led them to fan out and listen to those great tunes.

The young people that I have had the opportunity to be around liston to bout current music and "classic rock" so in my experience they do realize the roots of there music. I have raised 4 kids of my own and have spent most of the last 10 years working with mostly young people, so I've been around a large number of them.

You are absolutely right! I'm 24, I love The Beatles, ( especially John ) Neil Young, Jimi, Stevie. Most people my age think I'm weird, and I think that this new crap is wierd too. Led Zeppelin, though, i think is universal, everyone loves Led Zeppelin, I got em in right now " Going to California"

Nope and they don't care anyways. They would just rather listen to crap and think that it's the best but we all know Classic rock was and still is the best. Their music will be gone in and the classic will always be there.

The Beatles were a lil bit before my time, but the rock of the 80's and early 90's will NEVER die!

I think every generation likes to believe they created their sound. Only the artists give each other credit. I love the classic rock...nothing compares.
