They are so similar it would be best if you sat on them to check for how they feel to you. Both have the exposed rear shocks that ride quite well and the 19inch front tire that is more stable than the tall skinny 21 inch tire of some other harleys.
The new bikes now have a 96 inch motor and a six speed trans. Big difference!
You should have no qualms about buying a Harley. Mine now has 65,000 miles on it and it runs even better then when new. It gets 45-50 mpg and it has only had one problem that needed to go to the dealer in all those miles. The front fork bearings were replaced under warranty.
I paid $16,500 for my wide glide in april of 2000 and it is still worth about 13,000. You won't get resale like that on a japanese bike.

I have an '06 Superglide, 35th Anniversary edition. It has less rake in the neck, giving it a slightly shorter wheelbase. I've put just over 5100 miles on it, and I still can't stand the factory seat. Everyone who has ridden pillion with me has complained about how uncomfortable it is. Other than this, I love the bike. The seat on the Street Bob is a solo that looks comfortable, but I never sat on it.
Another thing: the '07s have the new 96" motor. I hear there have been a number of complaints about it. (I have the TC88) The new six speed transmission - I've heard nothing but good, and I really like it. They are doing no charge replacement of the inner primary bearing until they are sure it will hold up. The oil change interval has been shortened. Now everything gets changed every 5000 mi.

Are you going to have a passenger? If so I recommend the super glide. If you are a single man, you might find a girl that wants to ride, the super glide would be better. Buy for comfort, not looks. i bought a road king and traded it in for a dresser. Comfort is the key.
