I have a list of worthwhile movies to own (ones you can watch over and over)

The Notebook (most romantic movie ever made)
Apollo 13 (inspirational and dramatic)
Ocean's 11 (who doesn't love a good heist)
Mr Holland's Opus (beautiful story)
Thank You for Smoking (genious movie, funny, intelligent, brilliant)
My Big Fat Greek Wedding (everyone's family... gotta love it)
Shrek and Shrek 2 (always need some light and fun flicks in your collection)
Dirty Dancing (classic movie, timelessly fantastic)
American Pie 1,2, 3--wedding) Crass humor is always fun too
Meet the parents/fockers (hilarious movies that never gets old)
Arlington Road (if you want suspence and not always happy endings)
Matchstick Men (for a movie with a twist)

That all depends on your tastes, eh?

I love the Wes Anderson series (each DVD sold separately) "Bottle Rocket," "Rushmore," "The Royal Tenenbaums," & "The Life Aquatic"...Criterion Collection, of course. Other great films to purchase include: "V for Vendetta," "The Lord of the Rings" 1-3, "Grosse Pointe Blank," "Kill Bill" 1 & 2, "Jarhead," "Pride & Predjudice" & "Donnie Darko" the Director's Cut.

There's lot's of great movies out there. I suggest buying the ones you like.

Repo Man is pretty good. I especially liked the "director's comments" feature. Quite funny.

U-Turn with Sean Penn and J-Lo is good too. Especially the scene with Billy Bob Thornton as the inbred hick auto-mechanic at home at night playing Twister by himself.
