i'm told if a child is born at home, the parents can write the child's name and theirs as the parents and this can be taken in to the courts to obtain a birth certificate.

This and baptism records are used for some people from years and years ago, Since that time, all births are to be recorded for a birth certificate. So yes for many of americans elderly this has been used but normally needs other material with it

We often use these inscriptions for geneologies, and they have been used to help verify other older records- but no, writing in a Bible is not a legal document in and of itself.

It COULD be if it was witnessed properly (like a notary, midwife, or doctor)- but then, ANY note with the proper witnessing can be legal!

The Bible can never be used as a legal document because it is not a law but only guides for morality and religion.

Now, you can either get a delayed certificate of birth or it may still be a negative declaration of birth certificate

I do believe this is true especially if you can get a neighbor or another relative who acts as a witness.
