in order to read or watch something that makes outragous claims, and blindly believe them, without looking into seeing how accurate it is, or seeing if they have been disproved?

For instance, i still see people with the 9/11 conspiracy theories and michael moore fans, when there are websites and videos that disprove them (which can easily be verified factually, if you search the web)

for the 9/11 conspiracy believers

I don't think anyone out there believes global warming does not exist. It is a matter of it being a natural cycle, like most scientists believe, vs. the environuts.

I answered a few of your questions. I really not sure if you are looking for another viewpoint in response to your questions or just comfort in the fact someone else is as frustrated as you over the subject.
I think most people who get concerned over these conspiracy theories are just young, not necessarily stupid. People like Michael Moore simply try to capitalize on the naivety of youth. With age, people tend to become more cynical.
Anyone who has raised children knows that during their childhood a young one becomes concern with scary things they see on TV. I've had to explain to my kids that dinosaurs don't exist anymore, there isn't a monster living under their bed, and so forth.
This fear of reality and the world around them doesn't magically go away when they enter adulthood. It continues for years before a sense of secure wisdom is reached.
I don't think these people who fall prey to those looking to cash in on their fears are stupid. They just need comforting in the fact that such things just wouldn't happen.

Most conspiracy theories are kinda far fetched but they make us think. There are still too many unsolved facts about 9/11 that don't make sense and the Bush Regime will not answer. Like..

1. Why was the Bin Laden family picked up and flown out of the country after all other flights were grounded?
2. Why was there no immediate response from NORAD after the planes were thought to be hi-jacked?
3. Where are the recordings from all the air traffic control towers involved?
4. Why was the Bush Administration so opposed to forming an independant 9/11 commission?
5. Why was the Head of the CIA thwarted in his efforts to get the message of the attack recognized?
6. If 9/11's inadequacies were so important to Bush--why hasn't he implemented their recommendations to the fullest extent?

If they can lie us into war, it kinda puts a no holes barred approach as to what they are capable of. Since when is wanting to know the answer to a simple question an act of "stupidity"?

The 9/11 conspiracy theorists do not really care how 9/11 actually happened, all they care about is political power and in order to get it they need to create doubt and confusion in order to smear their largest opponent. As for global warming, the same global warming scientists were the global freezing scientists a few years back...do the home wrok, more politics over rreal science...Mars has global warming but no SUV's, go figure.

I know what you mean.
I agree with you on the 9/11 government conspiracies.
I haven't heard of the Michael Moore groupies. Not a pleasant mental picture.
And, don't forget Fox News when you talk about outrageous claims blindly followed by morons.

stupid enough to be your average uninformed American citizen who doesn't care enough about their well being and the well being of their checking accounts to look at both sides of the issues.

or your average University of Wisconsin professor with a degree in English Literature and French who was hired to teach a class on Islam...don't ask me how that happened...oh yeah, then he taught the 9/11 conspiracy theory as fact.

if i were one to take away civil rights (which i'm not)...i'd take away the right to vote from people who follow the trends and conspiracy theories so blindly...starting with kevin barrett and michael moore.

don't you wish people would look at both sides before making a decision? *sigh*

some people love drama. so conspiracy theories are right up their ally.
i'm not sure why people waste their time with these theories because even if they were true good luck proving it without sounding like a nut job.
