I'm not really sure which song was written first, but there were three songs recorded during the Sgt. Pepper sessions that didn't make the album. Strawberry Fields and Penny lane were both recorded in late 66/early 67 but weren't released stateside until Magical Mystery tour. The other song, written by George was Only A Northern Song which was released in Jan of 69 when the soundtrack album for Yellow Submarine came out. Pretty sure this stuff is accurate, or at least close. Hope it helped.
