It's the one line in the painting that is continuous - even though it's hidden most of the time and forgotten most of the time. It's the thing that flows even when everything else is choppy or changing. Time is quiet and unblinking - it's the first line drawn and the one most covered up.

I would visualize time as the proverbial tortoise and hair. I, we, (humanity) is the hair, running along trying to stay ahead of the tortoise, ( time.) We stop for a sip of water and all of a sudden that lil green dude creeps up on us and the race is over.

time to me is a pencil drawing of a baby with lightly shaded phases of childhood Thur adult hood, than a very black and Grey picture of an older person-life is just to short!(and the next time you see an older person say hello to them it will probably make there day !)
