Spectators accessed their seats via vomitoria (singular vomitorium), passageways that opened into a tier of seats from below or behind. These quickly dispersed people into their seats and, upon conclusion of the event or in an emergency evacuation, could permit their exit within only a few minutes. The name vomitoria derived from the Latin word for a rapid discharge, from which English derives the word vomit.

It was like a bathroom. People back then supposedly ate so much that they were in constant need of a place to blow chunks (personally I think it had more to do with the cultures excessive use of lead) So they would run in blow chunks and someone else I suppose would clean it up for them.

It was for binging. If you are or drank too much, you could use the "vomitoria" and go back for more.
