Besides the pelvic and pap, they will take a urine sample (you will pee in a cup first thing at every appt!!) They will also draw blood and take your health history...lots of questions!
That's about it.
Congrats!

I agree with the other ladies. At my first visit, I had to answer LOTS of questions. I got a pelvic exam, along with a pap smear. I gave a urine sample, blood sample, and my Dr. used the Doppler device to detect the baby's heartbeat. Congrats and good luck. I can understand the "nervousness" around it. I'm 16 weeks and I still get nervous. You'll be fine!

The doctor will ask you your health and your families health history as well as the fathers. Also your about your sexual life. They'll draw blood to test for STD's (even if you say you are married and monogamous). Some docs even give you an utrasound. Also it's a great time for you to interview the Doc and see if he shares your values and agrees with your wishes on how you want the Birth to be (natural, drugs/no drugs, episiotomy, induction, his C section and episiotomy rates etc.). Don't be afraid to ask him anything. If he gets bothered by your inquiries then that should tell you to drop him and find someone else.

They will examine you and ask a lot of questions. Set aside 1 hour once you get back there. Some times they will do an ultrasound (internaly). They will also do your blood work and urine test's. They will go over your visit schedule for the next nine months. congrats. Don't be nervous enjoy the next nine months this is a wonderful time of your life.

You get a pelvic exam, and they'll test you for a lot of things. It just depends on the doc. Like they checked my blood at every visit due to anemia. A pelvic/PAP is to be expected. Congratulations!

Depending on the doctor, mine use to talk to me first, just to see what was going on and how I felt and everything............Then the nurse would put me in a room to disrobe, put on the two gowns, and the Doc would come in and do the vaginal, tell me that Yes, I was pregnant, and do a pap test.........check boobs, ..After exam, go back to Drs. office and he would either give me prescriptions for vitamins, tell me that pap test be back in three four days......And that would be about it....Nothing to it, except I never liked the vaginal and all of that,,,,,,,,,,,,Good luck,,,Nothing to worry about......Good luck with your baby....Oh yes, should give a urine test to make sure there are no infections, and they should also draw blood...

Well... at my first appointment they drew blood and tested for multiple things, asked about my family history as well as my partner's, had me give them a urine sample, checked blood pressure, pap smear for cervix, and checked the baby's heartbeat. ( I was 12 weeks )

Thats about it, you'll answer a bunch of questions, and have to get weighed (fun fun) and unless you've had any problems so far that will probably be it.
