Many beginning writers start by writing about their own life. It's good practice, but it's rare that a publisher will pick up such a book.

What's more successful is taking an isolated incident and turning it into a novel or short story. For instance, I spent three years in Japan out of 50 years of my life. It would be fairly easy to write a children's book about an American child in Japan or an adult mystery having to do with the Chofu area and an American tourist.

I've also worked in the railroad industry, the coal mining industry, federal service (DOD and DOI) and other areas. More importantly, I've lived in both big town and small town Wyoming. Lots of material there for writing (so why do I write science fiction? Don't know.)

Anyway, look at your life and quit thinking biography and start thinking fiction. It's a lot more fun.

yes, especially my life being 30 & growing up fast making $$$ since i was 25, having alot of girlfriends from different races, 7 cars, house, been around the world, experienced alot of relationship problems, conquered them vicodin addiction, beat that, lost job, then opened business, finding out about real people & fake people that use u. using psychics, doing alot of street smart organized crime & never getting caught, knowing ur limits/risks, since im a risk taker, but in all learned that just being urself is real. no need 2 keep up w/ jones because jones are getting broke & ur wasting $$$ trying 2 fit/impress people. i think the more $$$ u make more problems u have & if u were an asshole w/o $$$ ur an asshole w/ $$$. so the answer is yes, i think my life would be exciting to write about, since i made my own $$$ w/o parents help this young, lost it all & got all back, learned about myself & relized family is more important than $$$

With the internet and blogs now anyone can publish a book about themselves. I've thought about it but it seems vein to me to think that someone would want to read about my life.
Who knows, one day if I have enough time I may try it.
How about you? Would you?

I think when it comes to telling about ones own life, it's like having a child... you think your child's is the most beautiful creature in the world.... same with ones life story- you think it's so interesting, but it's only in your own mind. My story will surely be interesting for my grand children and great- great-great...etc grand children. That's for sure.

No. I don't write well enough to do the events of my life justice, and I don't trust anyone enough to reveal my secrets to them so they could write it for me.
