you cant group them simply as "metals, nonmetals, metalloids" because among them they have different valence electrons n characteristics.
you will have to refer to the periodic table for their valence electrons.

as for their properties, a metal is
-shiny
-malleable
-generally high boiling n melting points (except grp 1 alkali metals)
-good reducing agents.

as for nonmetals. it can be either say, gases like oxygen or halogens like chlorine. so your question is too vague.

and metalloids can take the characteristics of either or/both the chemical qualities of metals n nonmetals
as metalloids are only semi-metals.

hope that helped.

Metals have 3 or less valence electrons, non-metals have 5 or more. The noble gases are full with 8 and do not react.

valence electrons are the extra electrons on the outermost rings. All elements want to be like th enoble gases, with a full outer ring of electrons. thats why the noble gases have no charge. so if you have hydrogen for example it has 1 valence elctron because it needs 1 more to get to a full outer ring.
