What kind of punishment should an individual that involves in child porno?

Not only that, but also sexually abusing/assaulting an innocent child? This really upsets me very much.

Yeah, some blamed for what happened to them in the past, which is the saddest excuse for doing such nasty crime.

Sexually abusing a child should be an automatic life sentance and manditory therapy. And an offender that has hurt multiple children should be elligible for the death penalty. One of my clostest friends was sexually abused as a child and the man got a slap on the wrist.

Possesion of child pornography should be at least 10 years and therapy.

I am a strong believer that there should be no death penalty... untill this issue comes up.

Recentally a repeat offender, Peter Robert Joseph Whitmore, who has assulted more than 5 young children in many differant provences and has been arrested many time kidnaped 2 boys and held them and likly sexually assulted them. I was unable to find any recent info however on the trial or of any charges.

This just sickens me.

While all of the answers are much needed solutions I postulate the following. After conviction of the heinous crime he or she (remember women sex offenders do exist) must be chemically castrated or given a complete hysterectomy. Prison may sound inviting but it forces us to pay for their existance. Rather, we create a captive labor force to be used by the prisons comprised completely of pedophiles. This group will be the ones responsible for cleaning up after the prisoners; chain gang activities and in general performing some of the most degrading and humiliating work imaginable. Think about having to clean a prison bathroom full of urinals day after day for the rest of your life.
They will be housed individually away from the general population in very isolated conditions with no amenities whatsoever. Work day starts at 0400 and ends at 2300. For life. At least they can pay part of their debt back to society. Each will have specific uniforms identifying them as pedophiles. If, at some point they return to society, they cannot live in a neighborhood where more than two minors reside within 1500 yards.

Castration wouldn't necessarily prevent abuse of a child. There are other ways. A great percentage of abusers do not even have intercourse with the child. I say fry them. While they are waiting to be executed put them in the general population of a prison and make sure everyone knows what they are in for.

There isn't anything to fit the crime - what the individual does to the victim. I think I'd want them to live with the terror every minute for the rest of their lives. See how long they can handle it.

They deserve to be tortured and then killed. This is how f**ked up the world is today, people get about the same if not worse punishments for drugs and theft as for child molestation. This is by far the worst crime that can be done. Murder can be justified, this cannot. Anyone who molests, attempts to molest, possesses child porn, or profitis from it or is in any way involved in it should be tortured and put to death.

I believe that anyone that robs a child of their innocence should be punished to the full extent of the law available in the state that they are convicted in.

IMHO they should be put to death as the scars they have left for that child to live with will in most cases never be completely healed.

In my state, it is common knowledge that a child molester/abuser if convicted, gets sent to prison and in turn, then becomes the victim (turning the tables, so to speak). Personally, I think they should just all be shot or fried. Sure, hit them in the pocketbook, too, but I don't think that resolves anything. Put them up on death row without appeals (deny that option).

just have to put him in the general populations in prison and make sure the other inmates know why he is there.
people like that are at the very bottom of the chain in there and are often beaten severely or killed. that's why they are normally segregated from the rest.

Hardly ever is there a case where they are sentenced to death. More often than naught they are just going to rot in prison for the rest of their lives.
